The WDSF Redance
Both the WDSF events at this weekend's Australian Championship will feature a 'Redance', so what exactly is a Redance?
It is universally recognised that couples invest heavily in DanceSport. Lessons, practice, travel and costuming are just a few of the competitor's expenses and it is therefore respectful that couples are given every chance to display their talents and move on from the first Round of a major event. The WDSF Redance system is designed to allow couples the chance to dance at lest twice at these events.
The way this works is that all couples dance in the 1st Round except those couples has earned an exemption by Ranking in the top 50 in the world. (Note: In cases where there are less that 48 couples starting, ALL couples must dance in the 1st Round.) Those couples selected from this 1st Round will move directly to the 2nd Round while those not selected will 'Redance' for a second chance of selection.
The recall numbers from both the 1st Round and the Redance are added together for the 2nd Round.
