Making History
The Australian Dancing Society presents the first ever ... Recreational Championship.
Friday the 5th of December will see the very first Recreational Division Australian Championship. It will be the opening day of the 69th Australian DanceSport Championship held at the Hisense Arena, Melbourne.
There will be events for both couples and individuals starting from 1.00pm.
The 'Recreational Open' events are all 2 dance events which are open to all Recreational Division couples. Of course both competitors need to be registered in the Recreational Division. If you are not registered speak to your teacher about joining the Recreational Division.
* A Note for Teachers - The Recreational Division allows a 'couple' to consist of two girls so the lack of 'gents/boys' does not mean your 'lady/girl' students miss out on the fun!
Here are the dances for the Recreational Open:
AGE GROUP | STD | LAT | NV |
---|---|---|---|
Adult | Waltz, Quickstep | Cha, Jive | Swing Waltz, Merrilyn |
Youth | Waltz, Quickstep | Samba, Cha | Swing Waltz, Charmaine |
Masters | Waltz, Quickstep | Samba, Cha | Charmaine, Tangoette |
Junior | Waltz, Quickstep | Samba, Cha | Merrilyn, Tangoette |
Juvenile | Waltz, Quickstep | Samba, Jive | Merrilyn, Gypsy Tap |
Individual events are for those who do not have regular partners. They are a single dance event in which only the 'Recreational Competitor' in the partnership is adjudicated, for example in a Best Girl event only the Girl is adjudicated. Note that the Recreational Competitor must be wearing the Back Number.
Individuals can be partnered by anyone who is registered in the Recreational or Amateur Divisions. This is to allow as many people as possible to participate.
Here are the dances for the Individual events:
